Katherine LaNasa promises plenty of heat from charge nurse Dana Evans and Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch when season 3 of The Pitt returns.
“You know, it’s up and down,” LaNasa, 59, exclusively told Us of her character’s dynamic with Dr. Robby (Noah Wyle) on the upcoming season while attending the Rape Treatment Center and Stuart House at UCLA Health’s annual brunch on Sunday, September 27.
She teased that even with Robby’s three-month break from the ER, he and Dana won’t skip a beat when they are reunited.
“It’s deep love there, and then they can just really give it to each other,” LaNasa said with a laugh.

Fans of The Pitt have been hooked on Dana and Robby’s connection since the series premiere in 2025, especially their ability to go toe-to-toe while working in the stressful Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center (PTMC) emergency room.
While the duo often butt heads — and have experienced their fair share of tense interactions — their connection is undeniable.
Following Robby’s decision to leave the hospital and take a sabbatical at the end of season 2, many viewers worried season 3 wouldn’t have the same push and pull they expect from the doctor and Dana.
Luckily, Wyle’s character will be back in full force for the new season and that includes pushing Dana’s buttons in a way only he can. (The season will pick up approximately four months after the events of season 2.)
LaNasa, meanwhile, teased that season 3 will also stay true to The Pitt’s signature style of pulling back the curtain on hot-button topics.

“We always explore important issues that don’t always get addressed on The Pitt,” she confirmed. “You know, it’s an important issue kind of a show.”
LaNasa pointed to season 2’s impactful story line about a rape victim who comes into the ER and everything they go through from a medical standpoint.
“There were so many women that came up to me on the street, and also people that worked in media, they would be interviewing me about the upcoming season and say, ‘I just have to say, that episode meant so much to me,’” the actress recalled. “I think it means a lot to a lot of women that have experienced sexual assault, and also, as we took it through the season, shining the light on the fact that a lot of rape kits aren’t being processed.”
LaNasa noted that like Law & Order: Special Victims Unit star Mariska Hargitay has done with her long-running show, The Pitt is trying to give the victims a voice.

“There’s a lot of us in the media working with organizations like the Rape Treatment Center to help change things for women and help victims of sexual assault,” she shared, pointing to the event she attended on Sunday at Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles.
While LaNasa played coy about which topics will be covered on upcoming episodes of The Pitt, she told Us that there won’t be a baby Jane Doe update as a follow-up from season 2. (In one episode, the staff came together to help find an infant abandoned in a hospital bathroom the right home.)
“We have a Jane Doe jogger,” she revealed. “They just wanted me to say Jane Doe again. They can’t say baby, just Jane Doe.”
Season 3 of The Pitt returns on HBO Max in January 2027.
