Trump has gone on a total freakout over the weekend and demanded that his Department of Justice investigate the Democratic leadership because the Democrats are going to fulfill their constitutional duties by conducting oversight on the Executive Branch.
Attorney General Todd Blanche went on CNN and defended Trump telling the DOJ to investigate Democrats.
Blanche said:
It depends on what the — what the crime is and what they have done.
But, listen, what President Trump is talking about — and it’s easy — it’s easy to sit here and talk about the president’s TRUTHS without actually talking about what he’s responding to — is you have members of Congress who after Tuesday have done nothing but threaten everything that’s happening in this administration.
That is not governing. That is not leading. That is not oversight. I mean, you have Stephen Miller getting promoted to chief of staff, and, within moments, within moments, the leaders of the Senate and the Congress start threatening him, OK? That’s not oversight. That’s not governing. That’s not leading. That’s actually a disappointment.
What Trump is really upset about is that incoming House Oversight Committee Chair Robert Garcia is planning on investigating Trump’s family and the donors who have given Trump cash while he is in office.
Instead of being intimidated, Garcia responded to Blanche on CNN’s State of the Union and vowed that the days of Democrats not fighting back are over.
