(See the video above for Jay’s complete chart breakdown.) Fortinet (FTNT) beat and raised after posting earnings last week but was punished due to slowing product growth and a reduced services outlook. The cybersecurity company has broken down technically, but the sharp decline has also brought the stock closer to important support levels. That’s the kind of setup we look for when hunting for swing trades. Thursday’s low at $127.40 gives us a starting point. That is the low after earnings and will be the key support level to watch. That area coincided just above the rising 200-day moving average plus the anchored VWAP from its 2026 low. It should attract buyers on further weakness. We don’t want to chase above $132 but buy the expected dip and retest of the current lows. If we get to buy around $132 the Thursday low will be our reference for an exit if support breaks so set stops accordingly. If shares do continue to move upward and don’t give us the retest that we anticipate, then we move on to another opportunity. In the case of FTNT, we have seen shares gap lower after earnings and slowly recover. We are planning on that happening again over the coming months and we want to play that bounce back to $155/$160. The one concern is looking at the chart on a weekly basis. We see the importance of the daily levels holding. If the stock breaks Thursday’s low look for further weakness to the $110 area. The longer time frame momentum indicators are showing there could be further downside risk. That is why stops are essential to limit risk if the swing trade does not play out as planned. Overall, this dip should give us an opportunity for a swing trade with minimal defined risk and a potential 15-20% return over the coming weeks. —Jay Woods with Chase Games DISCLOSURES: None All opinions expressed by the CNBC Pro contributors are solely their opinions and do not reflect the opinions of CNBC, or its parent company or affiliates, and may have been previously disseminated by them on television, radio, internet or another medium.
