South Africa beat Australia in a three-match test series, 2-1, with the final game at Cape Town. The Proteas were impressive in the last innings, bowling Australia out for 111 to script a historic series win and reaching the top of the Test rankings.

The match, however, was not without its drama. South Africa’s batting coach Ashwell Prince and wicketkeeper Kyle Verreynne have been reprimanded by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for dissent against the umpires on the third day.

South African batter, Marques Ackerman, tried to review the decision to give him out, but the umpires stated that he did so outside the given time. This made Prince irate, and he was seen shouting at the umpires. To make matters worse, Verreynne, the 12th man in the match, told Ackerman to stay on the field, thereby delaying the game further.

The ICC found these actions to breach Article 2.8 ‌of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, showing dissent at an umpire’s decision during an international match.

Both of the accused have been handed one demerit point on their official record. If a player accumulates four or more demerit points within two years, they will face a suspension.
