Alabama utility bill assistance appointments now open online for low-income residents

An Alabama nonprofit has announced that online appointments for its utility bill assistance program are now available.
The Community Action Agency for Northeast Alabama said Friday that it has opened online appointments for the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program, which aims to help people in need with their energy bills as hot weather continues to affect the state.
Program requirements:
Must live in Blount, Cherokee, DeKalb, Jackson, Jefferson, Marshall or St. Clair counties in Alabama.
Income must be at or below 150% of the federal poverty guidelines.
You must not have already received LIHEAP cooling assistance from the agency since the program cycle started in May.
You need access to email and a working phone number for the agency to reach you.
The agency said funding for the program is limited, so if you are in need of assistance, it asks you to apply as soon as possible. It also noted that submitting an application does not guarantee approval or financial assistance.
