With historic significance, covered bridges in West Virginia evoke a simpler time, when we dream of untouched rural landscapes and a slow-paced way of life. Many of these simple yet beautiful structures were constructed by craftsmen in the 1800s. Today, around 17 of the state’s covered bridges have withstood the test of time. We curated a West Virginia Covered Bridges Route to see nine surviving structures. Get your camera and car ready for this day-long road trip into the past as we discover some of the most charming covered bridges in West Virginia.
This scenic adventure begins at the Sarvis Fork Covered Bridge in Sandyville and ends at Dents Run Covered Bridge in Morgantown. The total time for this nearly 300-mile drive is just over 6 hours; you can follow this Google Map for directions.
