John Harrison Lister of Georgetown, Texas, was called home by our Heavenly Father in the early morning hours of July 16th, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was a devoted husband, an extraordinary father, a loving grandfather (Papaw), a faithful son and brother, and a man of unwavering character. He was a Colonel in United States Marine Corps who faithfully and proudly served our country for 30 years, spending many long deployments overseas.
John was a humble man, quiet by nature and reserved with his thoughts, but his admirable actions spoke louder than words ever could. He loved and cherished his family beyond measure. Our life together was filled with adventures, laughter, and memories we will carry in our hearts forever. His legacy will continue to live on in our children, the values he instilled, and the countless lives he touched through his service, kindness, and unwavering strength.
Left behind to cherish fond memories include his beloved wife of 34 years, Brenda; sons John (Jae) Harrison Lister II and Jordan Michael Lister; and precious grandson, Jax Von Lister. He is also survived by his mother, Lyda Anne Lister, and siblings Paul (Rocky) Lister II, Sheree Lister, James Lister, and Duane Lister.
John was preceded in death by his father, Paul Gene Lister, and his brother, Dusty Lister.
The Lister family extends an invitation to all who were touched by John’s remarkable life to join in commemorating his legacy. A service will be held in his honor on Friday, August 7th, at the Central Texas State Veteran Cemetery in Killeen, Texas at 10:30 a.m.
