According to Bridgeport Fire Chief Greg Pigg, the Harrison-Taylor 911alerted staff to a structure fire at 3:01 a.m. Sunday, August 9. The call was along Sugar Camp Road, which is out of the city limits, but in Bridgeport’s first due area.
Fire personnel arrived to find a working fire. The fire was to a single-family home in the rural area of Harrison County.
“Upon arrival, the home was already a total loss,” said Pigg. “It is completely Leveled.”
Pigg did say the blaze is under investigation. The Harrison County Sheriff’s Office will be working with the West Virginia Fire Marshal’s Office on the investigation.
The blaze also saw assistance, or units alerted, from the Anmoore Fire Department, the Nutter Fort Fire Department, the Shinnston Fire Department, and the Clarksburg Fire Department. The alerts are part of multiple mutual aid agreements in Harrison County.
