Torrevieja boosts its bus routes. Credit: Ayuntamiento de Torrevieja.
Bus passengers in southern Torrevieja can now travel directly into the city centre without changing buses at the hospital, following changes to three urban routes. The updated services affect lines 1, 2 and 8, improving connections for residents in Los Altos, Punta Prima, Los Balcones and other neighbourhoods while introducing a permanent route change along the coast.
Direct bus services remove hospital transfer
Passengers using lines 1 and 2 no longer need to change buses at Torrevieja University Hospital.
Both services still stop at the hospital before continuing to Avenida Doctor Gregorio Maranon 7 in the city centre.

The change means passengers travelling from southern residential areas can remain on the same bus for the entire journey, rather than having to transfer at the hospital.
The new arrangements are intended to make journeys more straightforward for residents travelling into central Torrevieja for shopping, appointments and other everyday activities.
Line 1 connects Los Altos and Punta Prima
Line 1 serves Los Altos, Punta Prima and Rocio del Mar, with services running from early morning until 10:10 PM.
Passengers travelling from these neighbourhoods can now continue directly into the city centre after the hospital stop.
The revised service provides a more convenient connection between the southern part of Torrevieja, the university hospital and central streets.
Line 2 restores previous route
Line 2 connects Los Balcones and Lago Jardin with the hospital and city centre.
It has also returned to its previous route along Avenida de la Asuncion and Avenida de Torrevieja, with the final services leaving at 10:30 PM.
As with Line 1, passengers no longer need to change buses at the hospital to complete their journey into central Torrevieja.
Line 8 coastal route changes permanently
Line 8, linking central Torrevieja with La Mata along the coast, is also changing because of redevelopment work at Paseo de Los Locos.
Although prompted by the roadworks, the new Line 8 route will become permanent.
The council is advising passengers to check their route, timetable and stops before travelling, particularly if they regularly use the affected services.
Passengers should pay particular attention to the updated stopping arrangements on Line 8 and the revised connections available on lines 1 and 2.
