One of Londonderry’s most recognisable historic buildings is a step closer to a new lease of life after plans to transform and restore the property were granted planning approval.
Situated on the banks of the River Foyle, Boomhall House has been derelict for more than 50 years.
Built in the 18th century by James and Robert Alexander, the historic property has passed through various ownerships over centuries before falling into a state of disrepair.
The shell of the Georgian manor house remains and new proposals could see the estate transformed into a day nursery for up to 50 children, a café, cultural and community space, as well as accommodation.
