There’s no ceiling to the amount of books a single household can accommodate — unless, well, they’re literally touching the ceiling. But even then, you’d probably still find room for more, right?
If that mindset describes you (or perhaps you’re just looking for a holiday gift for your literary friend), you’ll be happy to learn that the first full-fledged CALS Used Book Sale of 2026 is headed to the downtown Roberts Library (the other big building in Library Square that’s not Main Library) next week. Running from 2-5 p.m. on Nov. 5; 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Nov. 6; and noon-4 p.m. on Nov. 7, the sale will be as cheap as ever, with paperback books priced at $1 and hardbacks going for $2. All three days are open to the public.
Here’s a bit of logistical info from CALS:
The entrance to the sale will be through the door to Roberts Library located on Rock Street (across the CALS parking deck). Shoppers may park in the CALS parking deck on Rock Street or the Main Library parking lot (the entrance to the lot is accessible on 2nd Street). Parking at these two CALS locations can be validated.
