Ryan Phillippe understands if 9-1-1: Nashville fans find themselves on the edge of their seat after every episode in season 2.
“The serial killer makes direct threats to anyone who tries to stop him from carrying out what he’s intended to do,” Phillippe, 52, exclusively shared with Us when discussing his role as Detective Rogue. “That would include the 113. That would include the call center, anybody, literally. Any of the cast members could be in jeopardy because they are trying to stop this guy from executing his plans, right?”
During the Thursday, October 22, episode, viewers watched as Cammie Raleigh (Kimberly Williams-Paisley) received a frightening call from a possible criminal wreaking havoc on Nashville’s first responders.
If you’re like Us and feeling anxious after the episode, Phillippe understands.
“There is that threat, and I think every episode so far this season ends with a cliffhanger,” he shared. “So you’re going to want to watch week to week.”
During the season 2 premiere of ABC’s hit drama, viewers also witnessed Fire Captain Don (Chris O’Donnell) and the rest of the 113 begin exploring a mystery inspired by the biblical plagues of Egypt.
As episodes continue, Phillippe believes it will become more apparent that there could be a serial criminal on the loose.

“Every time the cast and crew get a new script, there’s always these reactions and this buzz on the set of like, ‘Oh, look what we’re gonna do next. This is gonna be wild,’ which also makes it fun,” the actor shared. “You kind of never know what to expect, and this season, I think, compared to last, has a ton more twists and turns and moments that will shock the audience.”
Although Phillippe previously told Us that the odds of his character exploring the romance department this season are slim to none, some fans are already wondering if he could cross over to 9-1-1 in the future.
According to Phillippe, he wouldn’t object to the idea.
“I think that those are things that very well could happen. I’ll put it that way,” he teased. “I think it makes sense. I think this is a character that you would imagine could end up on one of the other shows, and I think that would be fun to have scenes with Jennifer Love Hewitt because of I Know What You Did Last Summer, and I would love to work opposite Angela Bassett, and I think there’s potential for that to happen.”
9-1-1: Nashville airs on ABC Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET. Stream new episodes the next day on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+.
