Former India opener Virender Sehwag’s son Aryavir has been appointed captain of Delhi men’s Under-19 squad for the Vinoo Mankad Trophy, the Delhi & District Cricket Association announced on Saturday.
The 16-member team was selected during a meeting of the Junior Men’s Selection Committee. The competition will be held in Visakhapatnam from October 8.
Aryavir’s first India Under-19 assignment was against Australia last month. He scored 28 in the first game, was run out for 47 in the second and got another start in the third before falling for 34.
The 18-year-old got a brief taste of senior-level cricket earlier this year, playing two matches for West Delhi Lions in the Delhi Premier League and scoring 24 runs.
