Abishek Porel has been named in the Senior Bengal men’s squad for practice matches against Assam at the ACA Stadium in Guwahati, with Sudip Chatterjee set to lead the side.
The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) announced the squad on Tuesday, with the team scheduled to leave Kolkata on September 30 and return on October 6.
Porel, who represents Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League, has not played competitive cricket since the end of IPL 2026, where he featured in only four matches.
The wicketkeeper-batter was arrested by Kolkata Police on August 11 in connection with a case involving allegations of rape and other sexual offences. The case was filed on June 30, and Porel was produced before the High Court on the same day as his arrest.
His inclusion in the Bengal squad marks his return to the state team after the legal proceedings began.
