French rail operator SNCF has announced the date for their opening of winter train ticket sales. Be prepared to get up early if you want a good price.
Train tickets for the Christmas and New Year period will go on sale on September 30th, giving travellers the chance to book journeys across France and several European destinations.
From Wednesday, September 30th, tickets will be available through the official ticketing site SNCF Connect for a range of services covering journeys from mid-December onwards. SNCF recommends travellers to book early, as tickets and cheaper fares can sell quickly.
For travel within France, tickets for high-speed TGV and inter-regional Intercités trains will be available for journeys from December 13th, 2026 to January 6th, 2027.
Meanwhile, travellers using Ouigo, SNCF’s low-cost company, will be able to book journeys from December 13th, 2026 through July 2nd, 2027.

Travellers will also be able to book tickets to European destinations for journeys between December 13th, 2026 and March 28th, 2027. This includes routes connecting France with destinations in neighbouring countries, making it possible to plan Christmas holidays, New Year trips and winter breaks elsewhere in Europe.
