“My heart really does go out to them and I pay tribute to lots of colleagues in the region who are standing up for their constituents and for their residents and commend them for fighting for them, and I know they’re working really closely with the police.
“Obviously, we have those those extra 200 police officers, and that is a decision by the police there in terms of pulling those resources. I know they’re working closely with my colleagues in Government, too, and keeping them updated and keeping a real eye on the situation.
“We want to, of course support people as much as we can and keep them safe, and I really, really do feel for them in this time. It will be extremely concerning.”
