Mary was born and raised on a farm near Fairmont, WV. After graduating from West Virginia Wesleyan College with her bachelor’s degree in education, she moved to the Dearborn, MI area to accept a teaching position. Mary pursued higher education at the University of Michigan and earned her Masters’ degree in business education. Mary spent her career in education where she taught for over 37 years, 27 of which were spent in Dearborn. She retired to enjoy a very active life at Fox Run in Novi, MI.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her brother Raymond, and her sisters Ruth Clelland Cave and Ruby Clelland Donnelly.
Mary is survived by her nephews, Charles and Karen Cave, Donald Cave and Penny Chavis.
The family has entrusted the arrangements to Ford Funeral Home, Allen Chapel, 215 East Main Street, Bridgeport. Friends and family may gather on Friday, August 28, 2026 from 10AM until 12 noon. A graveside committal service will follow at the Bridgeport Cemetery in Bridgeport, WV.
