With profound sadness, we announce the passing of a beloved husband, father, grandfather, physician, and friend. Dr. Dean E. Wolz, age 64, of Sewickley, Pennsylvania, left this world on Thursday, August 20, 2026. Born in Erie, PA to the late Roger and June (Wright) Wolz.
For his entire life, he was devoted to serving others. As a cardiologist, he dedicated his career to healing, caring for, and giving hope to countless patients and their families. Medicine was truly a calling to Dean, and he approached each patient with compassion, skill, humility, and a genuine desire to make a difference. A graduate of West Virginia University School of Medicine, he spent the last years of his career serving West Virginia and the very community where he first forged his craft.
Outside of medicine, he loved hunting, his birddogs, fishing, and spending time outdoors. He enjoyed bringing his family together through his love of cooking, often over a bowl of his specialty house pasta.
He leaves behind a legacy that cannot be measured by a career or accomplishments, but by the lives he touched and the love he gave so freely. His patients will remember the physician who cared deeply. His friends will remember his warmth. His children and grandchildren will carry forward the lessons he taught them. And his wife will forever hold the memories of the 41 years they shared together.
Services will be private. Arrangements entrusted to Schellhaas & Sons Funeral Home, Sewickley, PA.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the American Heart Association, www.heart.org.
