GROVELAND, Fla. – Groveland Police Chief Shawn Ramsey is no longer employed by the city.

The city confirmed on Tuesday that Ramsey was no longer the police chief, but provided no information as to what happened.

“The city does not otherwise comment on the specifics of personnel matters,” a release from the City of Groveland said.

It’s not known whether Ramsey’s departure has anything to do with a lawsuit he filed against the city, alleging retaliation for filing a whistleblower complaint.

Fire Chief Kevin Carroll will serve as interim public safety director, and Deputy Chief Armando Loney will serve as acting police chief for now.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
