An area community has said goodbye to its long-time top law enforcement official, according to a social media post.
The Granville Police Department announced on its Facebook page that its Chief of Police, Joseph “Corky” Corkrean, is stepping down. Corkrean has served more than 15 years in the town closely situated to Morgantown.
Corkrean was the chief from 2010 to 2026. The post stated that Corkrean hired many of the officers currently serving within the department’s ranks.
Although leaving and retiring from his job in Granville, he is not stepping away from the labor force. Instead, Corkrean will begin a new career as a professor at Fairmont State University, not surprisingly teaching in the field of law enforcement.
