Thursday proved to be another busy day for first responders in the city as the Bridgeport Fire and Police Department handled a pair of wrecks involving multiple vehicles, Deputy Fire Chief Jacob Thompson confirmed.
The first incident took place on East Main Street. The call came into the Harrison-Taylor 911 Center at 11:47 a.m.
Thompson said the accident involved three vehicles. Due to the accident taking place at very low speeds, there was moderate damage and there were no medical transports as a result.
The wreck was near the entrance to Oliverio’s Florist, said Thompson. The wreck was just off the main roadway and did not disrupt traffic.
The second accident took place in the afternoon and also involved three vehicles. The call came into the 911 center at 1:13 p.m. and, again, saw both city agencies respond.
According to Thompson, the accident took place on the Interstate 79 Southbound on ramp. There was moderate damage to the vehicles, according to the Deputy Chief.
This time, however, one of the individuals involved in the wreck was transported to United Hospital Center for medical evaluation. Bridgeport Police diverted traffic around the accident scene.
Bridgeport Police will handle the investigation.
