According to WDTV, the National Weather Service has confirmed a 9th tornado in West Virginia from Tuesday, July 21st’s storms.
An EF-1 tornado with maximum winds of 95 miles per hour touched down near Gandy in Randolph County, marking the first tornado in the county since 1980 and the 6th ever documented tornado on record there, according to Meteorologist Dillon Gaudet.
This also marks the second most active day for tornadoes on record in West Virginia, Gaudet says, behind the 10 that occurred on April 2nd, 2024.
Thirteen tornadoes have now touched down in West Virginia in 2026.
